This Qualsafe Awards (QA) qualification is designed to educate Learners in the principles of safer manual handling. It outlines the reasons for safer manual handling and the legal requirements. It will help the Learner to understand how risk assessments can improve safety and how to reduce the risk of harm.
Aim
The aim of the qualification is to help Learners understand the principles of safer manual handling so they can apply what they learn to their working environment and make their practices safer.

Intended audience
This qualification is suitable for all employees to raise their awareness of the risks of unsafe manual handling practices and for people who may have to carry out manual handling as part of their job, e.g. handling deliveries, parcels and boxes. It is suitable:
To raise awareness about the importance of safe manual handling
As an introduction to those starting work that may involve manual handling
For those returning to work that may involve manual handling

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. Learners must be at least 16 years old prior to registration. Due to some practical elements of this course, learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat shoes.
Requalification requirements
It is recommended that training is refreshed every 3 years.
