RESCUE TEAMS

EFS Water Rescue Teams

All of our fire fighters are trained in basic water awareness but the Swift Water Rescue Team has a range of specialist capabilities to manage more complicated water and flooding situations. Our highly experienced team comprise of a team leader trained to Water Incident Manager (level 5) capable of managing large-scale flood incidents or other large-scale water rescues; and individuals that hold accredited qualification competencies in Swift Water Rescue Technician (level 3) and Rescue Boat Operator (level 4) which comply with DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) module 3 content requirements and operate within the guidelines set out in the DEFRA Flood Rescue National Enhancement Project Concept of Operations.
Apart from being able to supply a swift water rescue team, we can support agencies that may require a water rescue capability as part of a risk assessment or transport personnel and equipment across water-ways to aid repairs or improvements to existing structures etc.

The team has a Rigid Hulled Rescue Boat, dry suits with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and a dedicated 4 x 4 Rapid Response Vehicle which have been specifically-designed to meet the needs of our team. They also carry a vast amount of specialist equipment such as Rescue Sled, Dinghy, Inflatable Ice/Mud Pathways, and Rope Rescue Equipment as well as all ancillary equipment to allow the team to operate self-sufficiently for 48 hours, such as an operational base gazebo, electric generators, food, refreshments, scene lighting and maintenance equipment.
